  1. 01

In terms of architectural expression it is proposed to develop a contemporary language that will introduce variety and visual interest into the area, but through the use of traditional materials and detailing deliver a development that is rooted in its place. In townscape terms, the proposals would significantly enhance the appearance of the site sending out a positive signal that regeneration is taking place, whilst the scale, form and appearance of the building would complement the neighbouring locally listed buildings preserving and enhancing their significance. The building's shape has a non-trivial appearance, resembling a triangle, to maximize the view from the apartments, which also ensures that the development will fit comfortably into the context.

The proposed building consists of a basement and 4 storeys. The breakdown of residential units is presented as 9 apartments - 2 single-level with one bedroom, and 7 duplexes, of which: 1 with one bedroom, 4 with two bedrooms, 2 with three bedrooms. Most of the apartments have terraces and/or a small private area. The proposals seek to promote active and sustainable modes of transport, including walking and cycling. They incorporate a secure and covered cycle store which has been located in a safe and overlooked location in order to encourage cycle use.
